Why has my return not been processed yet, it has been almost 72 hours and it still is not accepted or rejected by the irs at all. I have never had this issue before.

I submitted my taxes through turbo tax on the 28th of January and mine are still showing as pending/not accepted by the IRS. My return is through the same account, however last year I did not file separately and my partner claimed me and our son as I didnt have income. This year I filed and claimed him and our son as they didnt have income. That and tax credits are the only thing I can think of that might have delayed mine. But way more than 72 hours....which doesn't seem normal according to everyone here.

Yes, I am experiencing this right now as well. In addition to the IRS my two state returns have not been accepted yet either.  This is very unusual.  I've been filing with Turbo Tax for 10 years and the returns usually get accepted within a day or two.  Either there is a problem with Turbo Tax efiling or there is a problem with the IRS.  Did the Trump administration fire everyone?  Even if they did, why is there a delay with the state returns.  I called Turbo Tax and they told me that no one else has reported this problem.  Hmmm?

Catina, The "Where's my refund?" feature only works if you have a refund coming.  The feature DOES NOT WORK, if you owe the IRS or states money.   We need a more thorough investigation and solution to this problem and not just a glossed over answer.  Thanks!

I am feeling the same way. Friends I know with way more complex returns have already received their actual refunds.

I learned from a friend this year that you can file your taxes directly through the IRS website, which he did this year, and he avoided the 150$ that turbo tax wanted to charge for a complex return as well (he didnt even have kids, he just made contributions to a 401k and somehow that made his return a complex one that was unable to use the free version of turbo tax).

He is one of the friends that filed the same time as me, on 1.28.25, and he has already received his refunds, with  no fee taken out at all. I'm going to be doing this from here on out. Turbotax is as good as a scam.

Totally agree that there is an existing problem with efile that is being glossed over by TurboTax support with canned answers which is not helpful at all.

Update.. 

I just got off the phone with the IRS and they were far less helpful than the two times I called last week to verify that an efile wasn't received but they did inform me that there is no delay in any type of 8936 schedule a and there is no record that this is an issue on their end. This means this is 100% a turbotax issue. Also they said I could file elsewhere but would be in risk of an identification delay if TT did transfer my return to IRS as they said they did on Friday.

what is "identification delay" ?

im thinking of file trough freetaxUSA or IRS website directly. But im scared as it will be duplicate

Apparently they hold your refund until they can verify you. I have no idea how long the process takes

but why it would be "identification delay" if IRS has not received anything from TT yet? If we use another Tax provider it maybe go trough right away. TT can show status as pending forever

My federal and 2 state returns are experienxing the same issue. So it’s probably not the IRS.

If tt submits your return while your other return is being processed it does have a risk of being flagged and then will cause a delay for identification verification is what I'm being told but at this point it's a risk we all may have to take.

I’m in the same boat and also have en EV credit this year. Filed Jan 34. Turbo tax still says pending, but it does say “return received by the IRS”. Very confused and frustrated

I had the identity delay last year just because there was a glitch in the IRS’ system. So they had to mail me a letter twice (the 1st one I never received) then when I got the 2nd one 4 months later, they made me enter the code on the letter into their website. After that my return got approved 2 weeks later. Total process took 5 months bc I filed in January and didn’t get my refund until June. They said there was a glitch since I filed before they were accepting returns

Im trying to find out if ANY single person that have EV credit got processed/approved this year.

Using ANY tax website.

But so far nobody is responding to my question.
