Entering your school district has nothing to do with where you went to school or whether someone in your family is in school. Some residents of certain school districts are subject to tax for the district they live in---it is a local tax.

For New York State, every taxpayer has to enter the school district you live in, whether or not you have children. It doesn't change your tax, it's just something the state wants to know.

Taxpayer lives in Fort Drum, New York State. New York State does not assess extra tax on the state income tax return based on where you live. They ask for statistical purposes. Any local town or school district taxes are assessed on real property by the local county.
