Why are they charging a 40$ processing fee

    NEVER use your federal refund to pay for the software...that is what adds on the extra $40

     

    Pay with a credit card.

    TurboTax charges a $40 processing fee if you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund instead of paying upfront with a credit or debit card. This fee helps to cover the cost of the refund processing service provided by a third-party bank

     

    To avoid this fee, you can pay your TurboTax fees upfront with a debit, prepaid card, or credit card when you file. For more details, check out this TurboTax Community page.
