Who is the person who brokers the sale of a second home? Would that be the closing attorney, listing agent or who? Thanks.

When I answer that I sold real estate it asks, what “person or financial institutions brokered the sale”

Who should go here? The attorney that handled the closing or the real estate agent who listed the property? This is under reporting sale of a second home or land.

If you received Form 1099-S, enter the Filer's name. If you didn't get a 1099-S form, enter the Title or closing company. If you didn't use a title company, enter the attorney.

• For sales or exchanges of certain real estate, the person responsible for closing a real estate transaction must report the real estate proceeds to the IRS and must furnish this statement to you.
