It depends. The date your divorce or separation was finalized might change how you report alimony on your tax return.
Alimony you received won’t be included as income if your divorce decree, written separation agreement, or separate maintenance agreement was signed after December 31, 2018
If you still feel that you should be reporting Alimony received as income, please follow the steps below:
1) Open your Return and click on Tax Home from the Left Menu.
2) On the main screen, please click on Income & Expenses.
3) Scroll Down and you will see a section for Less Common Income. Within this section, there should be an option for "Alimony Received" .
