I am getting an option to add it in review. Do you get that option?

No, it is not in the first part, it is in the section on the Property Tax Deduction or Credit.

  1. Sign in to your account and click Fix my return.
  2. Select State from the left side menu.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Click Edit to the right of New Jersey.
  5. Click through a few screens until you get to, You've Finished Your New Jersey Return.
  6. Click Update to the right of Taxes and Credits.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Answer Yes.
  9. Keep going until you get to the screen, We Need to Know About Your Property Taxes. You can correct your Municipality code at the bottom of this screen.
  10. Click Continue to save the change.
  11. Select Review and let the program review your return again.
  12. Select Continue to file.
  13. Continue into the File section and re-submit your return.

Thanks Julie! The issue is that after I click Update next to Taxes & Credits, click continue, then yes, it says "Tell Us About Your New Jersey Housing Situation" not "We Need to Know About Your Property Taxes." I rented an apartment so when I go down the renter rabbit hole I never get to a property tax page, thus no municipality code section. Are you able to help?

Where can I edit municipality code once my return has been rejected? It says it's in the first section of the NJ program but it's not.

I went to review and was prompted to enter in the juris code for taxes paid to another jurisdiction, which in my case was New York, so I entered 32. I hope that was right.. it said everything looked good and let me resubmit so I'll know if it worked soon enough! I'll write back if it was rejected though.

Appreciate your help so much! I've been trying to get answers for weeks with no luck.

Well it just got rejected again. Same reason: In the NJ program go through to select a county from the list available in the program. If you are a nonresident leave the county blank. After entering the code go through the error check and resubmit your return for E-File.

When I went to review again it just showed me my final numbers. If there are no other options, is there a way for me to just switch to file by mail?

You haven't said exactly what is the REJECT error message.

You can always give up and file on paper at the Post Office.
