Tax providers don't "push" returns to the IRS. They go to a data warehouse where the IRS downloads them according to the IRS' schedule, and tax providers have no control over the part. The IRS officially opens on 1/29, they may take returns early for testing but that is random and there is no way to ensure you will be part of the early test. (And even with early tests, no refunds will be paid until February.)
The IRS has put out a notice that they will not be accepting any type of 2017 tax return until January 29, 2017 (unless they pull a few returns from tax preparation company servers for testing.) Your federal return will be in pending status which means it is sitting on the TurboTax servers waiting for the IRS to start accepting tax returns.
To check your Federal e-file status, go to our e-file status lookup tool to get your current status (pending, accepted, or rejected) as well as Where's My Refund? at IRS.gov.
I got a message federal accepted on Monday 1/22 . I filed on Friday 1/19.
