I call BS on this. My housemates have all filed using H&R Block and their forms were ready. They both have an accepted status by the IRS. (Not sure how they were accepted by the IRS since Jan 29 is the opening date.)

What REALLY irritates me is the shady practice of telling your customers AFTER they have paid the filing fee that the forms aren't yet ready. Obviously, if I had known, I would have gone with HRB, so I suppose there is a method to your madness. It's not worth it to pay another filing fee just to get a refund, though their refund was 60 dollars higher than the refund through TT.

I have been a long time customer of TurboTax, but this will be the last year I use them.

The IRS must approve the forms before they can be released for filing.

The IRS is conducting test polls to test their system.  They will not process any returns in those test until Jan 29 when the IRS main processing centers open.

Most forms are available with a few exceptions.

The review section should tell you which forms you need.

Save time and money and just file with H&R Block. I filed with them and my return has already been excepted. Meanwhile, Turbotax and "...waiting on my forms to finalize" Refund was the exact same and half the price.

Can TT refund what I already paid so I can go file with H&R?

I was actually able to file. If you are stuck in a loop where you keep going back to review and getting the same screen with the unckickable e-file link, click the link right above that & choose where you want your refund to go then you should be on your way. Hope this helps.

The forms were ready on the 18th and the irs started processing yesterday so i doubt you’ll be able to back out now. The irs man said they approve refunds on a first in basis.

at least the forms I need are not available for TT yet. Since I have not officially file to IRS, I should be able to get a refund for the services I paid to prepare my taxes.

You could call the 1800 number and talk to an agent that works for TurboTax and ask

Just because the paper (pdf) version of the form is available on the IRS website does not mean the electronic version has been approved.   E-fileing does not use the paper version. E-file is encrypted data sent to the IRS is a format specified by the IRS in a "schema" that the IRS must supply.   The e-file provided must program to encrypt the form data accordance to the rules in the schema.  The IRS must then test and approve that electronic "form" to be sure what the e-file provider, like TurboTax, will send data that the IRS can read and decrypt.  Only then, will the IRS approve the e-file providers form for release to the public.

If anything goes wrong, the test do not pass, the IRS is slow, etc.,  can cause delays.

It is February 8th...way past January 29th.  All my forms are listed as available, yet TT still says the IRS hasn't finalized forms.
