When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

@kevdawg40

And how would the average user know what 4 different platforms offer and how much they each cost? not tyo mention how relatively "easy" or "hard" each one is?

Someone that is in the industry would know, so to me it looks like somehow you are in the tax preparation industry and are here to steer people away from Turbo Tax.

I just call em like I see em.

Is there any update on this?  Does H&R have this?

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

Y’all I’m just going to post this then I’m gone ✌🏽🤣 I’m younger but I’ve been filing my own taxes for years with TurboTax and my friends too! I love TurboTax but honestly I need my coins ASAP because this inflation has my pockets crying LOL and I have things to do and don’t have time to be waiting on the 8915F SO when someone first mentioned FreeTaxUSA I signed up and poked around a little but got scared and decided to wait… then I seen TurboTax still didn’t have the form, I went back and actually put all of my info in and uploaded last years tax return to their system and voila…! 14.99 and my state and federal are both accepted and I am now just waiting on my refunds! Now.. I’m not saying anything bad about TurboTax (I love You guys sorry I cheated lol) but like I said.. I need my Coins sooner rather than later! I’ll be back using TurboTax next year though because I love the smooth interface and I dont like cheating! But, If your tax return isn’t super complicated, give FreeTaxUSA Or whoever else has the form a try! I say Freetaxusa only because it was so cheap! And NO I’m not a troll!!! 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

Ps this isn’t directed to whoever I’m replying too I just don’t know how to post without the @!

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

@Anonymous OR like me he started his taxes on three different platforms to see where he would actually be able to file. I started with TT (read back through the thread to my initial post) and then tried H&R Block because someone said the form would be available on 2/8 and found out that I had to hire a tax professional in order to file that form with them for extra money. Then I tried free tax because someone suggested it here and was able to file. I don’t know why you have such a hard time believing people but that’s okay because no one cares who you use to file your taxes. If you don’t trust anything other than TT then stick with them. It sounds like you don’t need your refund so congrats.

Well msromike, it ain't rocket science. I went to the various sites and entered my stats. Then, by the magic of the Internets, the site tells me how much it will cost to file my type of return. 🙂 It literally took me less than an hour to try out HR, Taxslayer and FreeTaxUSA. It's very easy to import last year's 1040 and other forms and also easy to just delete your info and account.

I'm looking for a good alternative. As I've mentioned multiple times, I'm a long-time user and fan of Turbotax but my family's tax filing needs (student aid, not needing the money from a return) require me to file sooner, rather than later. If they announce 8915 F is ready tomorrow, I'll probably still use TT. It's a huge blunder that TT doesn't have this form ready.

And I'm the farthest thing from a tax preparer...try Nurse Practitioner and professor. Guess who got laid off early to mid 2020 when hospitals/clinics halted routine surgeries and in-person office visits? Mid-level like NPs and Physician Assistants took a huge hit with as many as 15-20% temporarily out of work in many large hospital systems. That's why we took a relatively small Covid disaster disbursement and now it's a royal pain in the rear.

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

Fair enough.

I don't get refunds, I have to pay every year.  I don't like lending the government my money at no interest every year.

@Anonymous Then I agree you should wait as long as you can! If I owed I would do the same.

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

@Anonymous you call them like you see them, but your sight is off. I am not a tax expert but I also knew much of what he posted because I have been shopping around as well trying to find a program that can finish my taxes. I also was going to try HR block but they do require a professional to do 8915-f. We are just trying to get answers from TT.

@kevdawg40- so... cool.

But kind of my point, there is no acceptable alternative right now for a lot of us.   That's what gets under my skin a little bit. "TurboTax this, TurboTax that."  Well bottom-line is the form isn't available because the IRS dragged their feet and didn't release it until 2 weeks ago.

The way I understand it is that the form gets release by the IRS, then Inuit (or whomever,) integrates the form into their platform.  THEN they have to go back to the IRS to get approval to use it in an e-file application.  That's not going to happen i a day or two or even a week.

As far as FreetaxUSA I believe they are an official provider FOR the IRS mandate to provide free tax filing.  As such they will be very limited in how complex of a return you can file with them.  And THAT is why their website KINDA works with IRS right now, they are heavily affiliated with the IRS.

This is the way it is to the best of my knowledge.

Sorry to hear about the job woes, I am a retired PA.  As far as the trolls, there were some here, but think they have been thinned out a bit.

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

@Charliesal7 - Because the chorus does not get anything done faster and just gets people whipped up about something that is beyond their control.  Intuit is working on this as fast as they can, people going off the rails in this forum isn't going to get your taxes filed 1 day earlier.   Intuit has been in this business a long time, and they are not going to jeopardize future business by not being as diligent as they can about releasing a correct solution in as timely a manner as possible.  They will prioritize the forms in the order that makes the most sense for the majority of customers.

At least IMHO.  I don't think the project manager came to work one day and said, "look forget all these people that need Form 8915, we are going to work on this today."

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

IRS says the form is ready for e-file.  https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i8915f   why is it not available on Turbotax?

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

lol Ok I'm also officially complaining about the delays in F8915 F

Having said that. Thanks for your response.

It is not what I wanted to hear but does make sense. UGG

Looks like time to amend return. I think IRS is only like 8 months behind in processing. sigh

When will the 2021 8915-f form be available on Turbo Tax to efile?

You must have stock invested in Intuit or something. No one is paying me crap to post here . Get over yourself. I've used Turbo for over 10 years.  Just went to free tax usa to see what other results I would get and as it turns out the form there is find it was ME who was not doing it right.

Good advice on avoiding amended returns if possible. The only bright spot is that if you are do a refund and the IRS does not send it by a certain time frame they have to pay YOU interest on your return. Likely won't be much but theres that.
