Non-resident held up from filing due to a problem with form 8582-when will it be available?
Don
Thank you for the basic information regarding corrected federal form 8582. Being in Maryland with the need for this form, being "Available Soon" isn't an adequate answer. We as users in Maryland, must know that the information provided by turbotax is completely current and if it's not, we should be given a precise date when it will be ready for use. As I see it, the software is useless if tax returns can't be completed and submitted upon installation and initial updating. If nothing else, can I e-file my federal or will I have to submit an amended Federal return once form 8582 is ready for use in Maryland? Also, if I DO e-file my Federal and wait on the update to submit my state, will I have the same aggravation as 2020 trying to e-file my state after the Federal has been filed and accepted? I had a terrible time submitting my Maryland return via turbotax's e-file last season because I submitted each return at different times. If there is anyone that can provide answers to these questions, it would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Robert,
I've tried completing my Maryland state returns for 4 days now and get the same error message saying the form will be ready soon. I have the CD-PC version of TT as well and I've tried updating several times daily and have nothing. If you have any insight or have done anything special to update your software, please share. I'd certainly be grateful. I had to e-file separately last year due to Maryland's unemployment changes and I had an awful time e-filing my state a week or so after the Federal using TT's e-file as provided in the install. I really don't want to file separately but if I can't get this fixed in short order, I may file them again separately. It's all very frustrating. Sorry to vent but obviously you've experienced issues in the past as I have. As much as I despise H&R, that may be next year's choice,
Regards and thanks!

Ok. I will remind TURBOTAX--again that this is not just a Maryland issue. I live in INDIANA and continue to have the same problem. When will Form 8582 be ready so that I can file my taxes?
According to the listing from Indiana, Form 8582 is up to date.
What is going on?
This has been a known problem. I am told that this has been fixed, but some are still having problems with it. Here are a couple of workarounds if you are still having issues.

@JillS56 This didn't work for me in on-line version. Tried several times. It allowed me to change the entry but it doesn't keep the changes in the script and reverts back to the same "0." I've already filed my federal so I don't know why the error would be coming from there, unless there is an error in the TT script itself that needs to be corrected. I will also add that while "0" is correct for line 9 in my return I do have other passive losses elsewhere in the 8582 so that may be an issue as well. Which brings me to a thought...why am I (the customer) having to spend my time and money fixing this?
