When I save a file the name is changed

I have worked on my return multiple times.  Each time I go in I make my changes and save the updated file.  To make sure it goes in the right folder I "Save As".  Sometime it has a little squiggly line in front. What is this.  Everytime I save do this it creates another file.  Why?  This is very confusing.

If you already "saved as", all you should have to do is save and it will update all the changes you made on this pre-existing file.

The ~ is a tilde file.   Those are temporary files that you normally don't see and normally are deleted.  But this year Turbo Tax is leaving them in the folder in case something happens like your computer crashes.  Then you can go back.  Just ignore them.
