@a033c5a68630 the IRS typically opens the filng window in late January,
What is the rush?
what we find on these boards are those that rush to file are the same ones that make mistakes and have to amend - normally becuase something showed up on the mail that they forgot about.
Also, if you are eliible for EITC or ACTC, by law, the IRS can not begin to process these returns until February 15th.
The online software for 2023 will become available in late November/early December. The CD/download software for 2023 has recently been released although it needs many updates. As already mentioned above---what is your hurry? The IRS will not begin to accept 2023 returns until late January 2024. Employers, banks, clients, financial institutions, etc. will not send out tax documents until late January/early February--sometimes later. If you rush to file, you are very likely to make mistakes and leave out important information, requiring you to amend later---a process that takes months. Every year we see many of the users who rush to file as soon as possible coming back here to ask how to amend because they forgot a W-2, messed up on a dependent, forgot about a 1099, etc. etc. etc. Many of those who rush to file too soon also end up under review by the IRS --- which delays their refund more than if they had just waited to file a little later in the tax season.
