What should I do if I can’t file my taxes because I never got a code?

I’m a minor, and when I tried to file taxes last year they told me my taxes were already done, because of that they said I’ll get a code. I didn’t get a code in the mail so I called during February they said they’ll send it again, still no code. They said I can’t do it online because I’m a minor and I can’t do it on the phone because there’s no proof of my identity because I never really filed taxes before. What should I do if I can’t file because they never sent my code?

You have to print and mail the tax return.

Did you get a message saying someone else already used this number?  Was it that your parents claimed you as a dependent?  If your parents claimed you, you will just need to check the box after you enter your name and address saying I can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer.  This will allow you to file.

If your parents claimed you this year and you do have a number, they would have had to include it on their return as well, so you can ask them for it.
