What's the fee to file?

It looks like you are using Federal Free Edition. If you are using Federal Free Edition, federal is free but state download of the software is an additional cost. You can see that here as well https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/compare/online/ when you click on State Additional. So you pay for download of each state you file. This is a tax preparation fee for the software you are using. There is no e-file fee when using online version.

If you are using the desktop version of the software, the 1 free state download is included in all versions except Basic. But you will pay a fee to e-file that each state return. You can avoid the fee in desktop version, by printing and mailing the return. You are able to print and paper file as many returns as you'd like with desktop version, at no cost. But there will be an e-file fee for the state.

If you go here https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/compare/desktop/ and then click on "1 state download" under the version you are using, it will provide this information for you as well and show "E-file additional*."
