I believe the richest state in the country, Maryland is broke and waiting around to see how, to deploy their share of federal stimulus money and are randomly pulling taxpayers refund returns to see if unemployment insurance was paid, how much or not. Maryland recently is now charging tax for online subscription services and finding inordinate ways to get into the pockets of taxpayers and its not in a friendly way like the lottery. 

I was told by the comptrollers office this review can take up to 45 days from the date of receipt of your tax return and may take even longer due to budget, staffing or other constraints.  If additional information is required of you, the reviewer will send a request via USPS if more information is needed or your refund maybe adjusted accordingly.

I have been waiting since my return was accepted on 02/15/2021, the status online is always saying "Your return has been received and is being processed". Also if its been more than 45 days, were hardest hit by the pandemic or have experienced any kind of hardship you can ask taxypayer services to expedite the review.

I'm going through the same exact thing. Who do I contact to expidite the process?? My car is about to get repoed because of waiting on my state taxes😤. The letter I got when I emailed them after 6 attempts says for me to allow efficient amount of time for the review. Well it's been 66 days now. This is beyond rediculous!!

It's been 72 days for me.   Will I ever get my refund or at least feedback?    Can anyone offer me help?   Please this is the worst time for Maryland to pull this stuff.    It is a hard time for me and everyone.   Thank you.

I filed and was finally accepted on 4/28/2021  Received a 45 day review letter. Emailed tax services. Then called comptroller of MD.  Was told my return has been sitting in processing since I received the letter they sent. And told me they were sending my return for emidet review.  Then got a return response from md. Stating it's been a long time. And he was expediting my return for review.  Her it will be August 1st tomorrow still nothing 😔😔😔

Call your state congress person and make a complaint ... sometimes they can get things working.

Hi 

I'm just curious if you received your return.  I haven't heard anything since I filed 5/15/21. I emailed last week and received a response today saying, 

"

Your tax return has been selected for quality assurance review. This review can take up to 45 days from the date of receipt of your tax return. Please allow sufficient time for this review to be completed. If additional information is required of you, the reviewer will send a request via USPS for that information.

If it has been more than 45 days from date of receipt, I am submitting a request to expedite the review of your tax return."

Its been 7 months with no correspondence.  Does this mean an audit?

I filed mine 2/11/2022 got a letter 2 weeks later from the cam Controllers Office saying they needed to do a review waited until this month called them several times after seen on their website that they have received it and it is being processed called them earlier this month told me I had to wait until April the 11th to call back because it would be 60 days before they could ask for someone to answer a question then I asked them when can I call back or how do I find out about the answer and they told me they can't give me a timeline Marilyn is such a joke anymore

Did you get it yet?…. I received the letter 3/3 and said I needed to wait 60 days, it will be 60 days on Monday 5/2. I’m wondering what the true time frame is, I desperately need MY money. I’m still waiting on my federal refund from 2020 too! I had to file that one via paper so it’s backlogged or something. $4Gs between Maryland and IRS owed and I’m barely getting by. I need my money, image me telling them To give me sufficient time to pay them and I made an agreement of 60 days and 60 days comes and goes I say “or longer” with no real answer. If anyone can tell me the date they filed and the date they finally got their refund that would be helpful. Thank you in advance

I e-filed my md state taxes on March 11 and received an email stating it was accepted on March 12. Since then Nothing has happened. checking refund status its said  “accepted and processing” since March. I’ve emailed and called numerous times, they first said only mine is on a quality assurance hold and it can take up to 60 days. After the 60 day point passed, they just say “it’s after the 60 day point so it’s being expedited, you’ll just have to give it time.”  No processing time given, not even estimates. Haven’t received any calls, emails, or letters. I’m on day 72 and have nothing or no one to turn to, my refund might as well have just up and disappeared.
