I did this and said something about as # and dependent on another claim

Based on what you’re saying, it sounds like someone else has used your dependent’s name and Social Security number on a return that’s already been e-filed, or perhaps that you’ve been claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return.  It’s hard to tell without knowing what your notification said.

That said, if you've verified that the SSN was correct as you entered it, and you e-file again, the IRS' e-File system will almost surely reject your return once more. Your only option would be to paper-file your return, sending it in to the IRS.
