What is the rule on dividing 1095a percentages between two separate returns? Can I divide the premium percentages any way I want?

Daughter is covered along with wife and sister on one policy.  She is not a dependent.  I am not on the policy.  We are married filig joint.  Daughter has much smaller income, so the higher percentage I can specify legally, the higher the refund calculated by TT.

It depends on the situation. This Turbo Tax FAQ has links with step-by-step directions for several complex situations with Marketplace insurance. One main point is to coordinate with the other people on your policy so that when you add the percentages together for the allotment, it does not total more than 100% when they all arrive at the IRS.

What is the rule on dividing 1095a percentages between two separate returns? Can I divide the premium percentages any way I want?

Here is an example that applies to my return:

Example: Nate is working and not on his parents' tax return. He is on their Marketplace health plan and listed on their 1095-A. He didn't receive a 1095-A in his name.

He and his parents have to figure out how much of column A (monthly enrollment premiums), column B (monthly SLCSP), and column C (advanced payments) on their 1095-A will go on their return and Nate's return. They decided that Nate will enter 10% of those amounts on his return and his parents will enter 90% on their return. They could have decided to have 100% on the parents' return and 0% on Nate's return.

Question: If Nate takes 10% of column A and 10% of column B on his tax return, does he have to take 10% in column C (advance payments) or can the advance payments be a different percentage like 5% if his parents take 95% of the advance payments on their return.

@kingmj50  Yes, if you decide to Allocate the percentages for a 1095-A on two separate tax returns, use the same % for all the columns.
