Someone used a mailing program that was supposed to have the name of your last year employer.  Your last year employer was not in the database, so the program printed "not defined" where your employer's name should have appeared.  It is just a program error, not a type of W-2.  Sorry for the confusion.

It is not a tax term.  Ask your employer what it means.

Who is the email from?

What is the exact wording of the email? Does it contain any identifying information about the W-2, such as the employer's name?

Did you issue a W-2 to a household employee or an employee in your own business?

The email came from TurboTax and it’s one of those emails where it notifies you when a W2 is available, except it stated “Not defined W2s now available”. The address it comes from is the legit TurboTax email, I’m just confused as to what it means since it then says “last year you filed a tax with Not defined”

That is marketing text which is vague at best so don't worry about it ... but the jest of the email is that the import portal may be available for your W-2 if you want to import it ... just go to the W-2 entry section of the program and see if you can import anything.

@rjs  sorry I’m new to this but I posted images of the actual email in the replies. Hope that helps. Thank you!

@Critter-3thank you! I was thinking it must have been a system typo when the email went out but just wanted to check and make sure it wasn’t something I didn’t know about. Thanks! 🙂
