We visited on tourist visas to Ecuador in July, and then decided to stay for the rest of the year. Defined as a "temporary" or would that be considered a move?

Trying to determine if we "lived in the US for more than 6 months"

Yes, temporary is defined as less than 12 months, so this was a temporary move and doesn't change your state residency or citizenship.

As far as more than six months, it depends on when you left in July. If you left on July 1, it wouldn't be more than six months. If you left on or after July 2, it would be more.
