I'm trying to e-file my federal tax forms as a Washington resident. I will not let me just file federal from Washington. It continually tries to get me to file state as well and we do not have state income tax. If I remove the state return, it wants me to print out the forms and mail them in. Also, I've never ever had to pay to e-file returns in the at least 10 years I've been using Turbo Tax. I'm so confused.

There may be a box checked in the File section of the program that you need to change.
Once you have gone through the federal review, and you click on the file tab, you will need to go through a few screens until you see the screen titled "We Recommend E-Filing Your State Return."
Scroll down on this page until you see Washington. Be sure to change the box from "E-file my state return now" to "Do not e-file my state return now. I'll do it later."
This should allow you to proceed and just file your federal return. Please see the screenshot below for what this page will look like.
I've been using TurboTax for 20 years and this is the first year it has tried to make me submit a return for Washington.. WASHINGTON DOES NOT HAVE INCOME TAX. Why can't this glich be fixed?
There is a new credit this year. You might qualify for the Washington State Families Tax Credit. Take a look at your WA return to see if you have a credit listed.
Individuals and families are eligible for the Working Families Tax Credit if they meet all of the following requirements:
To see your forms:
Amy C - You say "take a look at your WA return." That is not possible. Washington does not have income tax and therefore the WA return does not exist. I'm trying to get across the point that there is a glitch in 2024 TurboTax Deluxe. I was able to work around it and efile my federal and Oregon taxes.
Since you can't see anything WA, you are ineligible for the credit. WA does not have state income tax. WA does have a new tax credit. A WA "return" should be filed to claim the credit through TurboTax. Individuals can also apply online.
If you are not eligible for the credit, you will not be able to generate the form, since there isn't a normal tax return for WA.
I am sorry for the confusion, new things and new ways to do things in WA. I am glad you were able to get past the review and file.
If your federal return contained EIC, take a look at the reference link.

Thanks, Amy. I appreciate your explanation.
This is totally ridiculous that this has not been fixed when the tax deadline is a couple weeks away!!
Skruger - If you need to work around this, you will need to go to the "file my state tax" page and select "file WA return later." It still wanted to give me WA as my free state return and charge me for Oregon!!! But I continued since TurboTax is obviously not going to fix it. Seemed to come up with the correct filing fee in the end. Good luck!
