TurboTax does not receive any kind of tax refund, federal or state.
If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.

@WINGS8891 - maybe I can help.... most who post that state the refund is wrong end up with adjustments made by the IRS related to the Recovery Rebate Credit or the CHild Tax Credit. Unfortunately, the IRS sends the refund out and then doesn't send the explanation out for 2-3 weeks.
before you spend unncessary time contacting the AG, etc. let's see if we can eliminate the "usual suspects", Please answer the following questions and let's see if we can figure this out.
1) what is on Line 28 of Form 1040 of your return?
2) what is on Line 30 of Form 1040 of your return?
3) what is the EXACT amouint of the difference between your expected refund and what you are going to receive. It's important to be EXACT.
Ours was for 2021 taxes. Still cannot reach customer service to find a reason or itemized statement of why we got much lower back than than the IRS indicated. Will never use TurboTax again!
We got a refund of about $500 less than it should have been after Turbo Taxes fees. We received a letter saying how much the refund was from IRS, and the refund from the 3rd party shorted us by about $500. No explanation, no customer service, no online chat..zilch to find out why.
If the fees from processing were over $500 then the 3rd party is a ripoff. All you get is a canned recording saying he much the refund was. If you try to connect to the alleged Customer Service, it immediately drops the call.
