My wife's W2 has an amount in Box 12 with code DD this year though she doesn't have healthcare coverage through her employer (only through mine). I'm thinking maybe it's a mistake as last years W2 didn't show an amount here and the situation was the same. From what I can tell though this number doesn't affect the tax return and I should just enter as it is.

Check the back of her W-2 form sent to you. It should tell you what they are doing. If not, contact her employer to find out / have it changed.
dd is for IRS statistics it has no effect on your taxes - what it cost the employer to provide health insurance to the employee.. you may have to delete the DD coding since in some cases TT does not like blanks (it will be pink or red) or try 0. a few states require health insurance coverage but then you get a form from the insurer that can only be entered through the state interview process.
