W-4

I don't understand this new W-4. My husband is tax exempt on his. I work part-time and don't come close to his salary. Prior to the new W-4 form I claimed the max amount of exemptions. How do I do the same with this new form? Should I include the children on the form? The calculator on the irs.gov site is down for maintenance.

W-4

If your husband has 100% exempt income, you should be completing your W-4 without a 2nd income for Step 2.  To get as close to your previous situation as is now allowed, Step 3 on Form W-4 allows you to calculate the change to your withholding based on the expected credits you may receive.

Here's a link to the new format you can fill out and turn in to your employer Form W-4.  Pay close attention to line 3 and you should be on your way!
