You cannot import from Vanguard because there is a difference in name as you point out. there is, Vanguard Marketing Corporation and VANGUARD. Both issue a !099-B but the Vanguard Marketing Corporation 1099-B, has a, "Document ID", needed to download in Turbo Tax. I have one of each. I downloaded one. beautifully and waiting on the other. I think this is a work in progress between Vanguard and Turbo Tax.
The answer bots don't understand the question.
Yes. I cannot import 1099-B information from Schwab. The Turbo Tax rep said others have complained about this too, after keeping me on the line for 20 minutes (Schwab said it was a Turbo Tax issue). I could upload 1099-DIV and INT data, but not 1099-B. It is, in my view, unacceptable to have to do this manually.
ridiculous response. you don't have any technical issues? your product doesn't work.
Rejoice! I was able to download my Vanguard 1099-B into my Turbo Tax program. There is a new security interface that allows you enter your account ID. Make sure you select the proper company from the list.
Good luck
Just to share my experience, I have found that you can upload the pdf form that you got from your vanguard account. You have to select the "enter my form differently" button. You have 3 options, direct import (which did not work with the consolidated), enter by hand (which I was quite confused about) and upload document from your computer (this worked). The confusion to me was last year I converted my vanguard accounts to brokerage type. In previous years I had a FEIN (TIN on vanguard's docs) for every mutual fund. This year I have a 1099-div and a 1099-consolidated. When I do the import it only gets the -div, and I have to "review" them over and over again. Now with the consolidated you just use the one FEIN/TIN number and upload the PDF or enter the totals by hand. It should be simpler but I wasted a good hour or two until I figured it out. Also if you did the conversion to brokerage last year, you may have some individual funds from last year that you need to delete.
My filing is done. All my 1099’s were downloaded into Turbo Tax at different times. The fix was a work in progress during tax time
All better.
I can't get into my TD Ameritrade accounts using Turbo T. I must get in because of so many trades & etc to enter. I entered the account # & Document ID many times. Do I need to open TD Am. 1st?
Please help!
Don Springstead
I have too many trades in Brenda's & Don's accounts to be bothered entering long term or short term.
Profit & losses & etc. I may as well not use Turbo tax. I have been with Turbo T. for years & would rather
continue. Help
Do I need to open TD Am. account 1st then try?
Update Turbo Tax before using.
Vanguard and Turbo Tax have worked for me after a few attempts and changes in the program.
make sure the company name is exactly as on your 1099 before importing,
Good luck
No, there is no requirement that you login to your TD Ameritrade account before importing into TurboTax. However, if TD Ameritrade requires that you allow third party access, then you will need to select that option, otherwise TurboTax will not be able to import the data. TD Ameritrade can assist with allowing third party access as TurboTax has no control over the TD Ameritrade applications.
so many of us with vanguard accounts are having trouble importing our data from our accounts yet you have no good answers. This isn't the usual way TT does business. What is going on?
It could be a couple of possibilities. One is that the password was entered incorrectly, you will need to grant third-party access for Turbo Tax to import. Also, it could be that there are too many individual transactions to import as the limit is 1500.
As we do not have access to your account or return, rest assured, we are looking to provide a solution or viable workaround.

Could you clarify your question? Do you need help importing your 1099-B? @Prab
This was from two years ago and should be closed now. It has worked for this year and last year.
