This seems to be a recurring problem each year. TT desktop is not importing the tax-exempt interest into Utah State tax software. I have correctly allocated the taxed/exempt portions for Utah on the 1099. The software says it is up to date and no updates are available. I cannot find the latest state version online verify it is up to date. I cannot find anywhere that tells me an update is pending to fix the problem (like past years). I have deleted state return and started it again hoping it forces the import but it did not work. Called tech support but they were useless. Yes, I can force it to manually create a TC40A to enter the data but I would prefer the software to do it (so it is covered by TT guarantee). Any one know how to find out if I really have the latest version of State tax software or if an update it pending? PS - yes, I could delete the 1099 and see if reimporting it to federal will force it into the state software but there is a lot more to the 1099 that just the tax-exempt interest and that would be the same a restarting the federal return without really knowing it will fix the problem. Thanks.
