I'm in Missouri using TurboTax 2020 Deluxe Desktop for Windows for my personal taxes. I have a Missouri-specific miscellaneous credit that prevents me from e-filing my Missouri return, but there's nothing that would prevent me from e-filing my federal return. So, I'm trying to e-file my federal return but not my Missouri return.
When I try to e-file my federal return by itself, I get a message that says "There is an update available for your version of TurboTax. Before you can update electronically, you'll need to get this update. To do this, go to the Online menu and select Check for Updates."
When I go to the Online menu and check for updates, it tells me "Your software is up to date."
I have tried rebooting. I have tried uninstalling TurboTax, deleting the TurboTax 2020 folder, and reinstalling. I have tried using the manual "superpatch" update. I have tried everything linked in the other threads on this forum, and I still get this error. Please help!
EDIT: I tried uninstalling all previous versions of TurboTax, deleting the C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax folder, deleting the HKCU\Software\Intuit registry key, reinstalling TurboTax 2020 Deluxe, and installing the latest (R28) manual update, and it still does not work.

Having the same exact issue, and I'm in Michigan. Now several hours later, still cant seem to file this stupid return.
Any luck? Do you know if Intuit support staff read these messages?
Anybody?
I am having the same issue Missouri
