I have happily been a TurboTax user for over 20 years, with the last 8 years doing eFile. Because I found myself unemployed, like millions of other Americans during a global pandemic, I was especially grateful for the Free File…until I found out that, adding insult to injury of a job loss, I cannot use Free File because, like millions of other Americans, I have an Unemployment 1099G.
Way to disenfranchise a whole segment of the population who were already hurting terribly, and asking they pay for the ‘privilege’ to file that 1099G…that was once free along with the W-2.
I will be voicing my concerns with the WA Attorney General’s Office and US Senator Patty Murray.
NEVER again.

That's tellin' 'em !
Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free. There are 8 free software versions available from the IRS Free File site

Thank you, I am aware. The point is, 1099 forms used to be part of FreeFile. But TurboTax, along with others, have chosen now to change the game, knowing full well how many people will be denied Free File , thus further victimization of the downtrodden. There is a war against the poor and elderly in this country. Shame on the greed.
I know…doing the right thing is so 2015.
