Unable to use Turbo Tax Home & Business on 2nd computer, different account

Home & Business allows up to 5 filings.  My Father bought Home & Business and loaned the disc to me after he did his taxes, so I could do my Taxes (which I've been able to do before).  Is this no longer allowed?  When I installed and put in the code I received the "This license code is already linked to another account".

You have assessed the situation correctly:  Simply having the disk and 16-digit activation key is insufficient.  The activation key is now associated to a specific E-mail account.  Within a particular E-mail account, the number of times the software can be activated is limited to five computers that the purchaser of the software owns, which allows for installation on both work and personal computers.  Having worked closely with IT with former employees computers, I highly recommend not using work computers for your taxes; too easy for personal information to leak.

The TurboTax user license allows one user to install copies of TurboTax on up to five computers that the user owns. You can also prepare multiple returns, including returns for other people. But the license does not allow, and has never allowed, one copy to be shared among different people.  This year, that license is being enforced by requiring users to log into their TurboTax online account when they install the program for the first time. This locks one particular copy of the program and one license code to one user account. The only way you could install the program on a computer that you do not own, would be to give the other person your online username and password. And even though that workaround might allow the installation, it’s still a violation of the license.

Unable to use Turbo Tax Home & Business on 2nd computer, different account

I purchased TurboTax with it in writing I could install on 5 computers. This company needs to be sued in a class action lawsuit. I can't install on a second computer I personally own with a copy of windows 11 from another computer I still own. The ask for proof of who you are so many ways its sickening. They know I own the same license I am trying to install on my new computer. You can't deal with thieves. I have the 2023 disk with code and it tells me the license is already owned.  Is this how stupid IA is ? Or are they greedy crooks ? I think the second. I needed three ID's to post and will probably be deleted.

Then it shld say " prepare returns  up to 5 in the same computer only"

"I should be able to install up to 5 computers owned by me" but I can't at this point.

  • You shld have stated different computer using account of the owner instead.
