My wife's W-2 lists two separate amounts both named "PERS" under Box 14. Turbo Tax is reading this as duplicates and won't allow me to e-file even though the entries accurately match the W-2.
What should I do in order to e-file my return? Change one of the "PERS" descriptions? Combine both amounts under one line item? God forbid, please don't tell me I need to go back to my wife's employer and ask them to fix something on her W-2.

Since box 14 is primarily used for informational purposes rather than having the information transferred to other parts of your tax return, try changing the description of the second entry so that it is not a duplicate entry.
For example, if one description says 'PERS' then make the second one say 'PERS-1' or something like that. You still know what it is, but it is not an exact duplicate.
