This experience has been resolved for new entries of Form 1099-NEC. If you previously entered this form, your best option is to delete the form and re-enter the information.
Open your return and go to Federal >> Wages & Income >> Other Common Income >> Income from Form 1099-NEC. Click Start/Update.
Or go to Tax Tools >> Tools >> Topic Search. Enter 1099-nec then click Go.
- On the screen Did you get a 1099-NEC?, click on Yes
- Or on the screen "1099-NEC Summary" click Delete (trashcan icon) beside the previous entry you made that is causing the error message.
- Return to the summary page and click Add a 1099-NEC.
- Re-enter the information for Form 1099-NEC. Be sure to check the box for SSN and not EIN.
- If the error message returns, go back to the 1099-NEC and enter the SSN in the format for an EIN (xx-xxxxxxx).
