I filed my 2023 taxes on February 13, 2024. It was over 3 weeks and it was still "processing" and I did not receive my refund.  I checked my taxes and discovered I made a mistake and fixed it by amending on March 9th. It turned out I owed money, which I paid that day. I didn't find out later that I had to wait for refund before amending. I keep checking everyday and it is still in the "processing" state. I thought even if you amend, it would not delay the original refund. I still do not have it. Now TurboTax wants their payment for services. It was suppose to be taken out from my refund. I got an e-mail saying they are going to automatically debit from my bank account by April 22nd, 2024. That's fine. My question is, where is my original refund? Who do I contact?  Sorry for the long message. I just don't know what to do. :(

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

I filed my taxes for 2023 on 4-2-24, I thought I had signed up for text & email notifications.  I decided to pay for what I owed with my credit card.  The TurboTax website is totally MESSED UP.  The website took my money, notified me of my payment acceptance, sent an email receipt, BUT THEN DID NOT FILE MY RETURN!!!!

I was waiting for my credit card to be charged & on 4-14-24 I decided to call TurboTax to find out why my card had not been charged.  The representative said "You have not filed your return yet mam", I said " What are you talking about, I filed on 4-2-24, they took my money & charged my card & sent a receipt.  Why wasn't my return filed?"   Rep said she didn't know & that I should go on the site and check.   I said to her, that I wasn't getting off the phone until she saw on her end that my return was filed.  I told the rep, what is WRONG WITH TURBO TAX, this is the first time that I have NEVER filed my taxes after paying for it!   The site told me that after my return was filed that my card would be charged, and THEN THE SITE TOOK ME TO Credit Karma stuff.  The site NEVER SAID that I STILL HAVE TO FILE MY RETURN!!!!   This is BS!!  If I get any penalties or lose my US gov job, then I am BLAMING TURBO TAX!   This is Ridiculous that the site DOES NOT file your return AUTOMATICALLY after you have PAID!!!    The prior years the website says "Congrats Your Return has been FILED"  this year it said NOTHING, HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF YOUR RETURN HAS NOT BEEN FILED!!!!!  The website SAYS NOTHING about STILL HAVING TO FILE YOUR RETURN AFTER PAYMENT!!!  Instead, it takes your MONEY & pushes you Credit Karma BS, to fill out stuff for monitoring & DOES NOT NOTIFY YOU that you still have to file your taxes -that you are NOT DONE YET!!!!   Something needs to be changed with their programming, WHOEVER DESIGNED THIS 2023 tax program SHOULD BE FIRED & THE IDIOTS WHO SIGNED OFF ON IT !!!!

Please check your email notifications to determine the status of your returns.  Accepted or Rejected.  If Rejected, the email will inform you how to fix the errors.  If you need assistance with fixing the errors please provide details in this forum.

 

Since your return may not have been successfully e-filed yet, the payments will not post because IRS does not have the payment information yet.
