Hi did you have to upload any documents? W2? And proof children lived with you?
Hi question did u have to upload any documents like your W2 or documents proving children lived with you etc? I have been filing with TT for 12 years and seen some of you filed federal with TT and the state directly on the website. I just didn’t want any issues ya know?! And if everything goes well and I do file my state with them do I delete my state forms on TT? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks
Hi
No. I only uploaded my son’s W2. That’s it.
I filed his federal only through TT. I left the state forms in TT. Did not delete anything.
The state of CT calculated the same refund as TT. Make sure you update the CT forms in TT when they are available on 1/30.
Hope this helps
Ok thank you. It’s just weird on the DRS site it’s calculating me getting back $245 more than TT said. I tripled checked all the numbers so idk why.
I had the Ct 1040 and CT dependent. TT and state DRS calculated same refund of $112. You can save your work and go back and review to ensure your data entry is correct.
regards
Thank you I appreciate your help. I have the same forms. TT says refund is $792 and CT website says $1037. Both have the same exact w2, forms, info, dependents etc. I’ll figure it out I’m sure. Have a blessed weekend ☺️
Go into TT and on the upper right hand corner open the app in form view. Make sure you have the same forms as the state. That’s quite a discrepancy. You can go back to step by step later. You can open the state forms and see what TT filled in. It’s some detective work.
Best of luck.
I totally agree something is fishy. I will check that now. Thanks again
Another thought. I believe TT derives the state tax data off your federal filing. Check the federal info as well.
Regards.
Ok.
check your AGI. Line 11 in your federal 1040 and look at your state 1040. Line one. It should be the same amount.
pulling out straws here
😁
Yes they are the same. I must of read over every line. The only thing I’m seeing different is on 1040 line 22 “overpayment” that amount $792 is what TT is saying I’m owed. Everything else is the same. But on the DRS site they didn’t have that part listed. Everything else matches.
Let me check my forms I’ll post back in ten minutes.
regards
Ok I see exactly the issue, but idk how to fix since it’s not fillable. On DRS lines 18-21 are exactly the same as TT. The only difference is the overpayment. TT says $792 and DRS say $1037. Every single number matches. Strange really.
