Let's try a workaround to see if we can get the refund monitor to work for you.
If you have started to enter information such as a W-2, and don't see the meter go to the Federal Review section. Click on all the way through ignoring the prompts to fix things and the meter should turn back on.
Then return to the section needed to enter your other income or deductions/credits. This works for some. @berracahband
That is bull**bleep**. When you click the "review" button it does NOT show your current refund/owe. No of the suggestions work. This sucks ass bad!
@berracahband Yes you are required to enter all your expenses. Be aware, if you have self employment income you can get in trouble for not reporting all your expenses like to qualify for the EIC.
UPDATE**** I just got off the phone with them and they are claiming that they are "working on the system" at that information is still available at the top of the page was in years past. When I told her that there have been complaints here on this forum going back to February, she was surprised. She said that she was doing a screen share just a few days ago and the information was there.
There is NO meter! It is gone. When I started on mine, it was never there and never appeared.
it still is NOT showing - why do i have to look for it???
Found a solution - [Thank you Reddit]
On the left hand side, under "Tax Tools", click on "Tools" then "Review Tax Summary". Towards the bottom, you'll see "Refund Due" and "Balance Due".

This is stupid... been using TT for a long time.. will not be using in future. About to change right now! no wonder there is a lawsuit against them.
I don't understand why there is not a free site (for all).
"Yes, the refund doesn't show until you are done with your federal return".
I am a new user, all other tax software vendors has this feature, if this is true, I cannot continue to do my tax on TT.
I also tried everything, nothing work. I am a first time user because I got the free program from Fidelity, I was shock a major tax vendor such as TurboTax do not have this feature, or been taken away. Now I have to go back to my trusty TaxAct.

@ChungChau
It is annoying but I did find a way around this. It is not as anyone else said previously..........
CLICK on the "help icon" (circle with a ? mark) at the top of the screen and then TYPE in
"Personalized breakdown"
This is not going to work for me. I will have to look into a different program for filing my taxes if this feature doesn't return.
This change makes no sense - why would TurboTax want to make their product LESS user friendly? I will be searching for another tax program. I contacted their chat support and they said you can click on Tax Tools and preview your return to see the number. So it's an extra 3 clicks at a minimum and then you have to click back to where you were. They should fire the person who made this decision because I'm sure they will lose more than my business. I've been using TT for 10ish years -- I never thought I'd switch but here I go!
