TurboTax not asking about taxes paid in 1099-G

My 1099-G form has both federal (box 4) and state (box 11) taxes withheld.
Turbotax asked about the unemployment compensation (box 1) but never asked about the taxes that were withheld.  I would expect this to be an automatic question when box 1 has a value.
Did I miss someplace where I need to manually select a special scenario and then enter in these values?

When entering the amount of Unemployment Compensation you received there was a box on the screen where you need to check Federal or state income tax was withheld on this payment.  Go back to the Unemployment section and edit the unemployment received on the Summary screen.

To enter, edit or delete unemployment compensation

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Under Unemployment
On Unemployment and Paid Family Leave, click the start or update button

TurboTax not asking about taxes paid in 1099-G

As mentioned by DoninGA, there should be a box to check on the screen that asks if any taxes were withheld from your unemployment payments (if you are using one of the CD/downloaded versions of TurboTax).  Check that box and then you will be able to enter the amounts withheld.

If you are using TurboTax Online, the other boxes (4 and 11) should be visible on the screen where you enter the unemployment compensation.  If you are not seeing that, be sure that you are entering your information in the correct place.

Use the following steps to go to the unemployment section of your return:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax screen, click on Search
  • This opens a box where you can type in “unemployment”
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to unemployment
  • Click on the blue “Jump to unemployment” link
