With my TurboTax software that I purchase each, the federal electronic filing is usually free, and it charges $24.99 for state tax e-filing. There have been years when I saved the money by choosing to e-file my federal taxes and to print and mail my state taxes. You make this choice in the TT Filing section toward the end. If you are using the free TT version, I would think that you should be able to make the choice with that as well.
