Turbotax is mis-stating Part V row 20 on form 8959. It is using the amount from box 1 instead of the amount in box 5 on my w2 Has anyone else observed this error?

I didn't know this was happening until I bought the CD version and got a different answer on how much I owed. The online version is incorrectly understating the amount of medicare w/h I should have had because it is not using the Box 5 medicare wages.  somebody is going to get in trouble with the IRS if this isn't corrected.

That looks like a typo in Part V Line 20 on the Form 8959 Additional Medicare Tax.  It correctly pulls from the W-2 Line 5, not from Line 1 W-2.
I will go ahead and report this to the TurboTax Moderators of this forum.

Correction on my last comment.  The Form 8959 Part V Line 20 is referencing Line 1 of the Form 8959 and NOT box 1 of a W-2.
Line 1 of the Form 8959 pulls from box 5 of the W-2.  So the Form is correct.

I have to disagree  that the ONLINE version is correct.  However since I have already paid for the CD version and I therefore am unwilling to pay another 59.99 to see the form 8959 on the ONLINE version to just prove that there is in error in the ONLINE version. I was able to determine that it is wrong by simply calculating the limited info that the ONLINE version provides and am about 99.9999% certain there is an error in the ONLINE version.  Sorry but you are going to have to fix it.  Either that or your CD version is defective.  Either way there is no way Turbotax can claim 100% accuracy.

My only comments were concerning the desktop CD/Download editions, looking directly at the Form 8959 you referenced to Line 20.  Line 20 pulls from Line 1 of the Form 8959 which pulls directly from box 5 of the W-2.

The online editions are another issue and you can contact TurboTax support directly to confer with them concerning the online editions for the Additional Medicare Tax.
