I had TurboTax Home and Business 2024 Windows Desktop installed, but it would not run. I attempted to repair the installation using the installer and it still would not run. I then uninstalled the program and attempted to install again. I am repeatedly receiving the error message:
"Service ‘Intuit Update Service v5’ (IntuitUpdateServicV5) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services." with options to retry or cancel.
Retry leads to the same error message. Cancel button cancels the installation. I am the administrator for my laptop. I have downloaded a fresh copy of the installer with the same error message. Running the installer as administrator leads to the same error message.
I tried stopping the service manually using the System Services app. This failed with the error message:
"Windows could not stop the Intuit Update Service v5 service on Local Computer.
Error 1061: The service cannot accept control messages at this time."
This is probably the wrong discussion topic to post in, but I cannot find technical support anywhere. The telephone support bot is if no use. How do I get help with this problem?
