Turbotax Error Code: 25300

I installed TurboTax Deluxe Windows from the CD and completed my initial federal return for 2019. I have been checking for updates and the Wisconsin state download which appears to not be available. Today, Jan. 6, 2020 I checked updates again and received federal form downloads. When I attempted to open my federal return, TurboTax opened in an obsolete 2018 AMT form with an error code: 25300. I no longer have access to my federal return or the Wisconsin state download which apparently is still not available. The Windows troubleshooting aid offered by Intuit is not helpful as it pertains to initial installation and PC setup. As a retired IT professional, my PC is completely up to date with W10, drivers, and security software. This problem is due to an Intuit TurboTax update that now prevents the program from loading and operating properly to allow access to my initial federal return entry. Will Intuit be providing a TurboTax update that will resolve this problem and restore access to my 2019 federal return and when will the Wisconsin state download be available? This is the first time experiencing issues with TurboTax after many years of use.  Please respond with the plan and timing of corrective action to repair this Intuit initiated issue.

I got it working now.  I ran it as Administrator, and using Windows 8 Compatibility mode.

I have a similar problem. The latest update causes Error 25300. I have rebooted, uninstalled, reinstalled and followed all TT fixes. The same error occurs on the reinstalled TT. I had no problems before the update. When will you have a fix?

I have just purchased Primer turbo tax 2019 and keeping getting the error code 25300.  When will it be fixed and what does it mean I am unable to access my tax return for 2019

Here's what fixed it for me.

First, try running TT in advanced mode (right-click and choose "run as administator"), after which it should update normally. If not, uninstall TT, reboot, reinstall it and then run it in advanced mode. After it updates, all should be back to normal.

I'm having the same problem. Rebooting & reinstalling do not help.  In addition, if I try to start a new return, the program crashes.  Hope you do something soon.

I have the same problem. Tried to open my 2019 return on 09 Jan 2020; program went into update mode. After a long, long wait, my return opened to an obscure page, in 'form view'. Any further action on my part resulted in Error 25300.

I've deleted/re-downloaded program. Same result.

What's up?

I solved my problem by running the Installer.exe program in Administrator mode. Thereafter, all works well.

I too am having the same problem with error code 25300. Program installed and was working correctly a couple of days ago. Tried to open the program both yesterday and today and am now getting the 25300 error code. Deleted and reinstalled the program both from a disc and on-line but still having the same problem. I went to the on line help section with TT and followed their recommendations and it still has the same error. Program comes up wanting to install the updates but never does.

If you run TT Installer.exe in Administrator mode there is a good chance that all will be well thereafter.

I got up early this morning to work on my taxes, opened TurboTax which immediately wanted to update. Had the update going while I sipped my coffee, finally finished and opened - except it opened to forms with the outdated AMT and will NOT move beyond that point. I restarted TurboTax, same thing. I closed TurboTax, rebooted my system, then TurboTax and same thing. So now I am wide awake at 4:30 in the morning and can't do my taxes and my estimated taxes are due next week. TurboTax has really blown it this time. I have been a mostly happy user for more years than I can remember. Guess how much response I am getting this morning?

Exactly!

Try a manual update and see if that fixes this problem - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/updating/help/manually-update-turbotax-for-windows-software-basic-deluxe-premier-home-business/01/26041

The problem appears to be resolved as of noon EST on 16 January, at least as far as the 2018 version of TT is concerned. I suggest you restart your computer to clear any hidden error coded Intuit has hidden, and try whatever you were trying before. The most recent update (and there was one within the last 18 hours) has repaired whatever was causing the Error code for me.
