Turbotax Deluxe 2025 Forms Availability

I just finished installing Turbotax Deluxe 2025 with no problem.  In the past I have used Turbotax quite effectively to help with estimating end-of-year tax decisions, BUT last year AND this year the forms availability has made it impossible to do this.  For example, this year the 1099-R input (a very basic/common form) is "Available soon".  And that might be well into next year!

I know from talking with friends who use the H&R Block product that last year and this year they had no problem with forms availability.  This year they have ALREADY used the H&R Block product to do exactly what I would like to do with Turbotax (enter actual or estimated financial info to see roughly what I will owe in taxes).  No problem with 1099-R input for them.

Sooo, can you point me to where I can see the estimated date of forms availability for Turbotax Deluxe 2025??

AND, I am seriously considering switching to H&R Block Tax Software next year if forms availability continues to be a problem with Turbotax.

Follow-up:  the data from a 1099-R apparently goes primarily on the 1040 - I'm not seeing any other "form" to check for availability related to 1099-R data entry.

When I attempt to enter the Turbotax section for Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) it simply states "available soon", but allows me to select to "sign up for email alerts".   If I select this prompt Turbotax asks for your email address to notify you when "Form 3903" is available.  I don't know of any dependency on Form 3903 to prevent me from entering 1099-R data???

Form 3903 is for moving expenses.  Don't know why it's showing  up under 1099R entries.   They probably need to update the message.  But you can enter a 1099R using Forms mode.   Or a work around to test and estimate  is to enter the 1099R taxable amount as interest so it will be added into your AGI.  But be sure to delete the interest entry when the 1099R entry area is ready.

I agree usually we have it by now, and I start entering data to see what I’m looking at before the end of the year. I understand we have to have updates all the way towards the end of February but at least we could put our basic information in now! this feels ridiculous.

There is another thread going that specifically mentions the 1099B form not being available that I have been replying to.

I want my tax software to give me the tools necessary to maximize the tax benefit I get for year-end Traditional IRA to Roth IRA conversions.  We have paid them for this!!!  In my reply to that one, I noted Turbo Tax was delinquent in this area last year too, and I seriously considered not using Turbo Tax this year for that reason, but I did not know if the other tax software available to use would be the same.  THANK YOU for letting us know that H&R Block apparently hires enough programmers to have their software ready when their customers buy it and they don't give their users the bait-n-switch that Turbo Tax does.

BAD BUSINESS practices Turbo Tax.  You have now officially lost my business, and it appears to be another.  I have been using it for about 20 years.  See you next year H&R Block!

Afaik, you pay for the software to file taxes.  The IRS doesn't even start accepting taxes until late January.  Can you provide a link to where Intuit says TurboTax is designed to be able to compute your entire tax profile for the year well before the end of the year?  I may have missed it.

Fwiw, I simply create a new return in TT2024, put all the data in, and make a few simple adjustments for standard deduction and brackets.  I've been projecting my year-end Roth conversion to fill my top bracket since distribution estimates were available from fund companies over Thanksgiving weekend.

I've been doing this for years - I don't recall the software ever being functionally complete well before year-end.

Additional point - you're never going to find 1099 on the forms availability list as a 1099 is not something you file with your taxes.  A 1099 will never be "ready to e-file".

The thing the bothers me, and has been going on for years, it listing a date and then just updating the date when the date passes.  Or just changing it to "Ready soon". It seriously erodes credibility when the company consistently and regularly misses date commitments seemingly without a care in the world.
