I made the mistake of purchasing TurboTax DELUXE 2023 in Florida. Now the software wants to make me pay $40 to do my Virginia taxes. So when is 'Deluxe' not 'Deluxe"? Even their own website has deluxe having state included. I phone Intuit, they were no help. I feel ripped off. Deluxe my backside. Intuit, you can make this right and stop the 'version' scam.

Many retailers sell the Deluxe CD/download with and without state software----so you have to be careful about what you are purchasing. Since some states do not have a state income tax, there are customers who choose the cheaper version that does not include state software. But----as you have discovered---even though you are in a state with no income tax, you need to prepare a return for different state. There is a fee to get that software.
That's fine, but maybe Intuit should put a 'NO STATE TAX INCLUDED' disclaimer clearly on the package. Additionally, they shouldn't be charging almost the cost of the federal tax just for state. Why do they even call it 'Deluxe' as it doesn't match the deluxe description on their website? Maybe call it "Almost Deluxe". This reeks of deceptive marketing. I've been a TurboTax user since 1999 and this puts a sour taste in my mouth. Shame on Intuit.
