For ever since I can remember the Turboax Hawaii business module for partnerships picks the wrong partner type for an LLC when it fills out the Hawaii version (N-20) of the K-1 forms. For example it picks "limited partner" instead of "other LLC member" and it picks "general partner" instead of "LLC member-manager". I can fix this with two manual overrides per K-1 but it is time consuming with 20 or so members, plus it then triggers about 40 alerts in the final review process for the state return that I have to ignore. Seems like the TurboTax program needs to pay attention to the the data entered in Form 1065 p1-4, Schedule B, Item one, where you indicate what type of entity you are. If you check "Domestic Limited Liability Company", then the Hawaii module seems like it should be able to pick one of the "LLC member" choices instead of one of the "partner" choices. Does anyone know any other solution beside a bunch of overrides?

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
TurboTax Online:
TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:
*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)
Here is the token number: [removed]-43427537
Thanks for looking into this. It would be great to not need the overrides!!
I have submitted the issue to be reviewed. Our developers will review and determine if any changes can be made.
