TurboTax app is requiring me to pay when I am eligible for $0 offer. I started my taxes and am filing in the app. How do I receive the $0 filing offer?

It was wanting my son to pay too even though it was supposed to have been free.  I just decided to let him use my TT as I can have up to 5 Federal taxes done on it.  My suspicion is that it lures you in with "free if you meet certain qualifications" and then based on some of the answers you give the program it decides you no longer meet the "free" qualifications and wants you to pay to use it.  But no where did it say why he no longer qualified.  TT needs to be more open about the qualifications up front that might kick you out of the free.  I'll be interested to see how TT comes up with an excuse for this!  Thanks for asking the question.

TurboTax Online is free to prepare your tax returns; however, there is a fee for Efiling them.

There are other Free File options available.
