I'm getting ready to install my 2023 Deluxe turbo tax. Can I leave my 2022 Premier version still installed on my laptop in case I need to make reference to it? Or will it interfere with the 2023 Deluxe version?

The 2022 software will not interfere with 2023. And...you will want to transfer the 2022 tax file in to 2023.
How to transfer last year’s return? https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900883
I have it stored on a thumb drive to transfer from.

I have 5 years of TurboTax installed on this computer without a problem. 😊 So as @xmasbaby0 indicated, there's no need to uninstall your previous year. In fact, it can come in handy to have it available in case you need to open and view anything in the 2022 data file.
To transfer from the 2022 data file you have on your USB thumb drive, one approach is to copy the *.tax2022 data file to your hard drive (if so, place it in the Documents\TurboTax folder). Then when you launch 2023 TurboTax, it should find it and ask if you want to transfer the data in.
EDITED 2/13/2024 at 6:39 PM Pacific: The default directory for data files at least in Windows is Documents\TurboTax folder. I had that backwards when I submitted this, then noticed the error and just changed it. You may have been emailed a response that had it backwards, so I'll send you another comment.
Or you can launch 2023 TurboTax, then then when you start a return, use the Browse button to locate the 2022 data file. You can point the 2023 program to the 2022 data file location on the thumb drive, which usually works, but increases the chance of error as opposed to transferring from a file located on your computer.
I've edited my comment above to correct something. The default directory for data files (at least in Windows) is the Documents\TurboTax folder. I originally had that backwards when I submitted the above, then noticed the error and just changed it. You may have been emailed a response that had it backwards, so I'm sending you this additional notice that was corrected. Sorry for any confusion.
