We understand that a number of clients are experiencing challenges regarding the receipt of their stimulus payment and are working to resolve this with the IRS. Please click on the following link for additional information: Why Haven’t I Received My Second Stimulus Check?
That was not the question. The question was if the IRS is telling us to claim the missing second stimulus payment on our 2020 taxes using the Rebate Credit, why hasn't Turbo Tax updated its program to calculate BOTH stimulus eligibility payments when determining the amount of the credit. I will be prepared to prep to file my taxes within days and will be forced to use another service as TurboTax is not calculating the amount of the second stimulus into the Credit Eligibility. So the question was WHY hasn't turbo tax updated its program to include both stimulus payments in the Rebate Credit qualifications when the IRS directed missing payments to be claimed accordingly. I did not ask where is my payment.
We are answering a lot of questions on the stimulus question today. Our software is updated regularly, and the IRS is not yet open for e-filing returns. Software developers will have this updated soon and before the IRS begins to accept e-filed returns.
@truitt79- because the law was just passed 11 days ago and the IRS didn't provide the requirements until 8 days ago, subtract 3 days for holiday and weekend, leaving 5 days to update the software and get do it correctly.
The desktop version of TT was updated this morning to accommodate the 2nd stim payment so I suspect the online version update is not too far behind
Look in the 'federal review' section of TT for the stimulus questions, and any credit due will be reflected on Line 30 of Form 1040, which will have the effect of increasing your refund (or decreasing what you owe)
lastly, the threat won't help this move any quicker - the IRS will not accept tax filings until the end of the month, regardless of what tax prep service you use or if you do it the old fashion way with pencil and paper!
does that help?
