I already efiled my tax return but forgot to add 1099 int. amounts - for some reason, was not evident to me when I was filing? Then got this in a text message on 2-4-26: Hi I am Amanda Downs from the tax office with the tax filing mediation and abatement agency. Your account is still marked for possible missed filings or outstanding issues and our office has access to a no weight proprietary verification line. This line allows you to correct directly and receive exact confirmation ... The number to call is [phone number removed].
I did not call because I have no idea if this is the IRS calling me or just a set up from someone outside to get me to provide tax information so they could rip off the refund etc..
So, all I could think of is to call y'all to assist me in amending my return to include the 1099 int. amount and send it in because I did send the 1099int amount into the IRS on a 1096 form already?
THANK YOU.
Sid

The text message you received wasn't from the IRS. The IRS doesn't contact taxpayers by text, or use third party “mediation” agencies, so this was likely a scam.
If you forgot to include 1099-INT income on an already e-filed return, the correct fix is to file an amended return (Form 1040-X).
To file an amendment using TurboTax, you should follow these guidelines.
