Dear Turbo Tax, if you cant take data from Coinbase, just dont advertise it, cuz you just give people false information!
so I use turbo tax back in 2019 and successfully upload the coinbase csv into online premier version, but for 2020, i can NOT due to 2 issues
1. if you have desktop version, turbox tax permier didn't have a crypto session (what a boomer)
2. the header in coinbase report generator changes while Turbo Tax still stuck to the dated information in 2020.
so back 2019, you would be able to download tax transaction file in csv format that contains gain and loss calculation from coinbase, which was no longer the case. coinbase currently only provided the transaction history and expect you to use some fancy expensive 3rd party software to do the capital g/l calc.
while Turbo is still living in the past and asks us to unload something that is no longer available.
Turbo needs to fix the upload session or just simply say it is not compatible.
for "Employee tax expert", please do not reply with the link " how to upload csv file" becuase it didnt work.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
From one of the TurboTax Moderators:
"TurboTax can no longer upload .csv files to TurboTax from Coinbase."
A message and FAQ is in the works, but in the meantime, maybe this will help.
