I have a Roth IRA I put $ into as well as a 403b at work.
Towards the end of my Turbo tax interview it said lets look to see if we can increase you refund...or words to that effect
It asked if I had a 403b. I said yes. Next it said my refund could grow by a grand if I opened a traditional IRA with 4k.
But I thought if you had a 403b you could not have traditional IRA? Further my advisor said even if I had no 403b the best I could do ....being over 50....is to put up to a max of 8k total in a Roth or traditional or split between both.
Why did TT even mention the traditional IRA without checking if I even qualifies for it....ie it ignored the fact that I have a 403b and never asked if I already had a Roth and how much I contributed for the year
