Turbo Tax can't handle 1099 R with code 8J. It uses the amount in 1 instead of 2b. This is a Roth IRA and the the FP manager put money into my Roth instead of my IRA. I noticed it immediately and they took it out except $0.12. But TT thinks the full distribution amount of $99.88 should be taxed though line 2b is $0.00. Not sure what to do next.

"Income" can be either taxable or nontaxable. TurboTax's Income summary shows the sum of taxable and nontaxable income, reflecting the gross amounts entered from Forms 1099. This sum is mainly useful for evaluating whether you inadvertently omitted some Form 1099.
With this Form 1099-R entered properly, TurboTax adds to AGI only the amount shown in box 2a. The amount from box 1 is added to Form 1040 line 4a but only the amount from box 2a is added to line 4b as taxable.
I checked the forms and they are correct. The confusion comes from the 2025 Income Summary screen showing the line 1 amount. This is also a problem with 1099 G not transfering back to the 2025 Income Summary screen. It just says available now under 2025 column. This happens with the 2025 Deductions & Credits screen showing available now for donations though the donations have been filled in. Seems the forms are correct but the screens not. So you have to go through the forms to see if everything is correct. Very confusing.

Good to know. I never had distribution that was not taxable before so it was confusing.
