transfer state tax

I purchased a Turbotax CD at Staples.

I share this CD with my daughter who lives at a different address (in a different state).

I just E-filed my federal return, but did not need to use Turbotax to file a state return (for RI).

Can my daughter use the state filing option (for NY) without additional cost?

Yes, if you did not download the RI state tax return she can download the NY tax return. 

If you download the RI state tax return to find out you didn't need to file, no, she won't be able to download NY since you've used your one free state.
