The fact that the forms are available on the IRS website, doesn't mean it can be e-filed with a tax software program. The forms are available if you are going to download to complete on your own. However, e-filing is different. Once the form is finalized by the IRS, it has to be coded into the special language the software uses and has to be thoroughly tested for calculations and e-filing acceptability. IRS then has to approve it for e-file. It always takes a little longer for a form to become available for e-file in a software program.
Well Catina, they better hurry up and get their act together as there's a little more than a month left before the filing deadline and they're holding everybody help who needs their refund to pay bills, etc. 😤
Agreed @MichaelDesna . Sounds like a refusal for take accountability, as many of us know e-filing is different. H&R Block has the forms. Not to mention, how else could they have populated dates of availability first if it had not yet been accepted by the IRS? Similarly, measures should be put in place to account for the varying lead times. @CatinaT1
@CatinaT1 @By the way, on turbo tax’s website it says this form has been ready for e-file, over the last 3 weeks, and IT’S NOT.
Also, it’s March 2nd and I STILL can’t file.
Ally, did you try calling their "customer service" number and talking to someone else other than Diane ? Many times if you get someone else they're more helpful (and less rude) than she was.
Phone calls are recorded and listened. That person may not an employee of Intuit any longer. Just call back and you should get someone who will help you.
That's good to know, Miss. MCJ. The way that Diane treated Ally was unacceptable.
I was told by customer service that TT is waiting on the IRS to approve the TT version of forms 3800 and 8881. They have no timeline. It is very odd to not have these approvals in place this late. The solution I was provided by the TT rep was to print all of the forms and hand key them on the IRS website. Well I have already paid for the software and already paid to electronically file. In addition to the loss in filing costs, this solution is not reasonable.
